On more than one occasion Dong has referred to a book that he once came across which features, amongst other things, a recipe for cooking cormorant which includes incineration with petrol and a fortnight's burial of the oily corpse.
Rather delightfully, this book was the subject of Radio Four's "afternoon reading" yesterday at half past three. The book is by W M W Fowler and is called "Countryman's Cooking ". Follow the link to listen to the evergreen Leslie Phillips' reading as broadcast yesterday.
The first part was broadcast on Monday and, I think it's a series at the same time daily all this week. Excellent stuff.
