How to tell that a student has returned home

Millbooker Towers this morning:
Yes, one of the studying offspring has returned to Millbrook to do their washing without having to feed that precious commodity "money" into a launderette's voracious machinery. (The link about money is there as a handy reminder of what the stuff actually is in these crunching times).
The young Wizzers of Soz has graced us with both her presence and her laundry; she's even been witnessed eating cooked food. We have put the heating on to mark the occasion of her visit and so that she might consider coming back again. We expect to return to stubborn refusal to spend money on oil shortly after her departure this afternoon, and thus to don our normal evening garb:
