Drunkards' Etiquette is a code that I've lived by for just about all of my adult life.
Here it is, in a nutshell:
Nothing that happens after midnight is ever mentioned again unless the person who might be embarrassed by an event brings it up themselves. If, however, you can't make it to midnight without saying/doing something silly, then you're fair game.
Seems entirely reasonable to me.
