Ornithology corner

The shot's a little bit fuzzy because this rather magnificent curlew was quite a long way away and my poor little camera was straining at the very edges of its zoom. I spotted this chap as I was walking towards Cremyll on Thursday morning; curlew are quite common on the tidal creek at this time of year but they still make a grand sight in my 'umble.

Interesting factette: curlew are known to live for up to fifty years (possibly longer), as are oystercatchers.

Here endeth today's birding lesson.
