Little Dipper

My little camera was once again straining at the edges of its zoom capacity when Mrs The Millbrooker did her sharp eyed thing and pointed out a dipper on the West Lyn River last Saturday.

Lovely wee birds; about blackbird sized they inhabit swiftly running streams and rivers. They often dive under the water where they find their prey. We also spotted one in the process of nesting - here he is carrying a sodden leaf:

For me, it's not the magnification but the stability of the camera which is usually the problem.

By the time I've found something to brace against, the bird has usually flown :-)
