An Era Ends At The Devon & Cornwall

I'm very sad to relate that a Millbrook institution has reached the end of its syncopated road.

Tony Harris has been tinkling the ivories alongside a varied assortment of friends at the D&C every Monday night for donkey's years.

On the Monday just before Christmas, Tony and Friends played at the venue in their regular slot for the last time. Attendances have fallen (to be fair, attendances weren't ever measured in hundreds) and band members had started to move on in other directions. Not least our own Wizzers of Soz who sang with them all the time that she still lived here but has only made infrequent guest appearances since moving to Soz in September last year.
I, for one, would like to say thank you to Tony and to the band (whichever line-up on whichever night) and especially to sax player extraordinaire Dan Hillman for the entertainment and sometimes outstanding musicianship.

Here are some shots taken by Mrs The Millbrooker of the last session, at which The Wizzers of Soz and her sis Dozybean both performed. For the record Dan Hillman is the one with the hair (and the saxophone).
Mrs The Millbrooker also recorded a video of the band performing "Ain't Misbehavin' " which I've stuck on YouTube. The quality isn't great - but it is at least a record of a genuine Millbrook institution.
