Ah - the wonders of the interweb, I love the idea that I can read about/see (sort of, in my case)/participate in a tiny way in the lives and events of people all over the world from the comforts of Millbrooker Towers.
I find it brilliant to have a new friend, whom I shall probably never meet in the flesh, in Tararua (yes, Judith, that's you). All from nothing more than the fact that we both enjoy wittering into the ether. She's just posted some excellent cricket jokes at The Art of Not Working if anyone fancies a look.
Meanwhile, it seems our little New Year's Day escapades on Cawsand beach have been witnessed in the Netherlands through the technological miracle that is YouTube. From a town called Scheveningen to be precise. Strangely enough I have actually been to Scheveningen in my dim and distant past and I enjoyed some excellent hospitality from the local tourism authorities (I worked in tourism at the time). Lovely town, lovely people, lots and lots of yummy food.
Anyway, what I'm getting to is this video response from the shiveringly cold and bleak looking Scheveningen beach (not as pretty as Cawsand, but much much bigger) where the New Year's Day dip is accompanied by live bands and is into the vitals-shrinking North Sea. It was sent to me by a fellow called Matthew Seeley. Thank you, Matthew.
Enjoy.

Oh. My. God. That looks so cold! Have to do a double take at the sight of people in smimming togs and woolly hats and mittens!
I love the interwebs too. I love the whole blog thing. I can sit here in my kitchen in remote Tararua and communicate instantly with people all over the world. Amazing.
