Aussies go green

My daily newspaper informs me this morning that the Aussie government has reached a decision to ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs (by 2010, I think it said) and thereby force businesses and homeowners to use energy efficient bulbs for their lighting needs. This is a GOOD THING.
Well done Australia. The figures show that this one change alone will be the equivalent of 350,000 cars being taken off the roads worldwide in terms of carbon emissions.

Two minor points of order:

1) Why isn't our government doing exactly the same?

2) My old favourite, Don baiting, country got there first. Cuba banned incandescent bulbs two years ago - highly enlightened (pun intended). Hooray for Cuba.

Let's follow the excellent examples being set by the Aussies and by Castro's people.
