Birmingham Royal Ballet

Because Nicky and I had been to see The Rambert Dance Company a while back and because the Theatre Royal hadn't sold many tickets for Tuesday's BRB show, they sent us a mailshot and we got tickets for a marvellous performance at a ridiculously low price.
We saw three pieces, each danced to a full live orchestra, choreographed to the music of Igor Stravinsky. None of the pieces had been written as ballet music and the choreography was extremely inventive and flowing. The set was a plain, bare stage throughout with unchanging blue and white lighting. The dancers all wore more or less basic leotard/tights and top - as seen in the photo above.
It never ceases to amaze me just what these people are capable of doing with their bodies, it's one of the most breathtaking sights in theatre. The company is returning in October; I can't recommend it highly enough. We'll be getting tickets, I suggest you do the same.
